Our History

Welcome to KVK Krsihi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) are agricultural extension centres created by ICAR  (Indian Council for Agricultural Research) and its affiliated institutions at  district level to provide various types of farm support to the agricultural  sector. The first KVK was established during 1974 (Pondichery) and has grown as  a largest network in the country.

Mandates of our KVK

 Conducting on-farm testing to identify the location specificity of  agricultural technologies under various farming systems.  

Organizing frontline demonstrations to establish its production potentials  of various technologies on the farmers’ fields.  

Conducting need based training of farmers to update their knowledge and  skills in modern agricultural technologies.  

Conducting training of extension personnel to orient them in the frontier  areas of technology development.  

Work as knowledge and resource centre of agricultural technology for  supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the  agricultural economy of the district.  In addition, in order to speed up the process of dissemination of  technology, a large number of various extension activities and production of  seeds and planting materials, livestock, poultry and fisheries breeds and  various bio-products are taken up by the KVKs.  

Application of technology/products through assessment, refinement,  demonstration and trainings to farmers for adoption.  

To promote knowledge related to occupational interests of farmers; like  forming Vegetable clusters, dairy cluster etc.  To promote Animal Husbandry and animal based practices, appropriate  technologies and mechanisation in them.  

To promote, establish and strengthen farmer associations/groups to elevate  the status and advance the interests of small and marginal farmers.  

To design and conduct training programs for farmers community in Sustainable  agriculture practices.  To propagate and popularize agriculture related schemes and programs  sponsored by government.
